Arizona Snowbowl pulls in strong attendance in first half of winter

A combination of help from the early season El Niño snow storms and Arizona Snowbowl’s most recent investor has generated record attendance for the first half of the ski season.
The southwest ski resort investor James Coleman has been a businessman his entire life — recently devoting $2 million to Snowbowl to expand the snowmaking, build two new chair lifts and renovate the lodges.
Big snows bring big attendance
With 122 inches of natural snowfall about halfway through the winter, Snowbowl’s attendance reached 124,000 skiers Jan. 24, which is 60 percent of the previous 2009-2010 record of over 205,000 skiers/snowboards in a season that received 321 inches of snow.
